Visiting my home town and Nasi Campur Kenanga

Last November, I went back home for my cousin's wedding.  The wedding itself was held in Bali, but I spent time in Jakarta as well.   I spent most of my time stuffing my face with Indo's delicacies.  It's unfortunate that we don't really have any good, authentic, traditional Indo resto in Vancouver.  The best one I've tried so far is Indo Cafe in Seattle, WA, but it's quite far away :'(

Anyway. Forward and onward.

My mom picked me up from the airport in Jakarta.  First stop?  Kenanga, baby!!  Kenanga is our favourite restaurant since I was a little kid. And we basically order the same things: nasi campur hainan  (direct translation: hainan mixed rice, it's basically Hainan rice with a variety type of meats, including a pork satay, marinated pigs ears, BBQ pork, roast pork, and ngoh hiang.  Ngoh hiang is a traditional Chinese sausage wrapped in bean curd and deep fried).  The next thing we always order is the marinated pigs ears.   My favourite!! I am a big fan of soft cartilage and this satisfies my cravings.  Their marinated pork ears also include the meaty parthe instead of just cartilage as you can see in the picture.

We usually go to the one in Grand wijaya because it's the closest to where we live (and it is also the ne tgat we have been going to since i was little), but I believe they have multiple locations now. Or they have a sister restaurant or something.

So. Tummy is full. I was happy and content. We went home,  and I was onto the next thing: massage at home. LOL.  We have a person who comes to our house and does massage for everyone in the house (usually only mom and dad since me and mit are in Vancouver). After a long 21 hour journey from Vancouver, my body totally deserved a massage.  It was heavenly!
