Sofitel, Nusa Dua, Bali
Soon after my arrival, my mom and I flew to Bali for the wedding. Mit was already there with her friends (she had been travelling around Asia with a couple of her friends), and my dad wasn't able to make it.
On the first day, we stayed at the Kartika Plaza hotel (Discovery Mall) in Kuta, and that's basically where everybody in the big family stayed. But on the second day, mom and I moved to Sofitel. She has a membership with Sofitel and she got a discount (and the room came with breakfast. Yay).
This Sofitel is located in Nusa Dua. It's a pretty far drive from the wedding venue, which was at Tirtha Uluwatu. BUT!!! Nusa Dua is much less-commercialized than Kuta and is monopolized by resorts; each resort has its own private white-sand beach. And while I'm in Bali, I for sure was going to enjoy the beach life to the fullest; nothing was going to get in my way. Well, except for $$, but mommy dearest took care of the accommodation during this trip (oh, the joy of travelling with parents!!).
Around Nusa Dua area, once you're close to the water, you will see a bunch of nice looking resorts. Any of the big names, you name it: Westin, St. Regis, Ritz Carlton..... Thank goodness we had that membership, so we got a pretty good discount at Sofitel.
We stayed in a king bedroom suite, overlooking the yard. It was very quite and serene.
The room itself was really big. I mean, it was really big based on Vancouver's standard. It has a big seating area to chill, a small dining table, a work table, a full bathroom with a soaker tub and shower with stone tiles, and a walk-in closet. Heck, it was probably bigger than my townhouse in Vancouver!! *cry*
Right beside the bed was a sofa/sitting area to chill. That sofa is bigger than mine at home. SMH.
TV and working/eating table area
That's the table, looking into the bathroom. You can close that sliding door to the bathroom for extra privacy. The blinds right behind the table? If you open that blind, you're looking directly into the shower area with rain-shower head and natural stone tiles. Fancy.
Huge soaker tub!! and that glass door at the back, that's the toilet. It's pretty common in Indonesia to have a separate toilet area from the shower/tub. Usually enclosed with a glass door, such as this.
We spent much of our time in the water, be it at the beach, or at their pool. The pool, of course, had an in-pool bar, so we splurged and sipped on our drinks while in the pool. Bliss.
The hotel itself was built on a gigantic area of land. It took us some effort to walk from the reception area to our hotel room; that corridor was neverending. But, with that space allowance, also comes the luxury of having a spacious pool, garden, and beautiful walkways.
This is the walkway to the beach. Can you see it in the background???
To the left of this walkway is a private outdoor party area, with a proper stage, sound system, etc. It also has its own bar.
And this, is right by the beach. (Beach is to the left). On the right is a bar/restaurant by the beach. You could be sitting under one of the palm umbrella and order a cocktail. or French fries. We ordered both, thanks.
A must-have while on vacation in Indo? Fresh young coconut by the beach. Hello, paradise!!!!
