Tirtha Uluwatu

My cousin's wedding was held at Tirtha Uluwatu.  It's quite a drive to get to the chapel location (which is to be expected of this excluded, serene, location....it's by a cliff, so of course you'd have to drive a bit further up the hill).   And from the chapel to the reception area, you have to go on another car ride, which the venue provided.  I believe you could walk from the chapel to the reception area, but in Bali's hot and humid weather, most wedding guests weren't going to risk sweating over their beautiful makeup and hair do's.

It is a very beautiful venue.  The chapel stands over an infinity pool, overlooking the Indian ocean.

This is the interior, you can see how beautiful the view is.  The inside is air conditioned, thank goodness, but it didn't really help much if you happen to be sitting directly in sunlight

After the ceremony, we all took a group pic outside.  And they did the whole balloon release thing (which I'm not a big fan of, thinking about all the deflated balloons that will fall somewhere in the ocean....).  But I understand it looks super beautiful for pictures.

We all then took a short car ride to the reception venue, which is just as beautiful.  It has an infinity pool as well, and the entire garden was decorated with string lights, it was very beautiful!   The reception was held mostly outdoors, but our big family happen to be seated inside, with air conditioning.  Thank goodness!!!!  Even though we may miss out on some of the festivities outside, I'm OK with escaping the heat/humidity and the bugs and mosquitoes :)

This is the infinity pool at the reception venue.  The walkway in the middle is for the bride & groom (or the guests) to take pic.

Us looking fancy!  The building behind us is where our family was seated (you can kind of see all the tables being set).   The theme of the wedding was either Bollywood or the Great Gatsby.  Did we look the part?  Kind of?

As we waited for the reception to start, we hung out at the waiting area (it's like a bungalow) and were served drinks and appetizers.  And then the entertainment started early with a trio of musicians which both Mit and I have seen before (I saw them in Ubud the last time I came to Bali).  They were amazing!

The night was followed by the bridge & groom joining the guests, and also all the speeches.

Then we got to enjoy a fire dance (!!!). I've never seen a fire dance before.....
Last but not least, we ended the night with fireworks.
