Hotel MyStays Shin Osaka

Our last destination in Japan was Osaka.  We decided to spend the most days in Osaka because we heard that it has a good balance between historical and food scenes / restaurants.  Plus we planned to go to the Universal Studio because.... well, just because (why do I need a reason to go to Universal Studio??).

We stayed at Mystays Shin Osaka.  It's really close to the Shin Osaka station, which is a nice hub and really convenient!  Seems like this hotels is usually frequented for business travels since most of the other guests that we saw at the lobby were business men in suit and tie.  The lobby of the hotel has a very modern interior, and as always, no one can beat Japanese hospitality:  everyone was so nice!

Oh, a nice perk, they also provide complementary DHC amenities!  For those of you unfamiliar with this brand, it's a really popular cosmetic/skin care brand in Japan.  I personally use their deep cleansing oil and lip cream.  It's not cheap, but worth it, especially their cleansing oil; a little goes a long way!  These complementary amenities come in single-use packets; they had the deep cleansing oil, facial cleanser, toner, and moisturizer.  Again, it's definitely a plus!  To be honest, during this Japan travel, we really tried our best to travel minimally (and trust me, it was very hard to do for us because I'm a planner and everything must have multiple back up plans, which means we almost-always end up over-packing for overseas travels).   Aside from the DHC stuff, they also provided a bunch other amenities, like hair masks and face masks.  (I didn't take those though because I don't usually use hair masks or face masks).

Anyway, once we got to the room, we basically re-confirmed our suspicion from the lobby.  It looks like a hotel room that's usually used for business.  It's compact! (even smaller than our hotel in Tokyo).  There's a long entry way, which has a place to put your luggage, and a few hangers for your clothes.  The bathroom is on the left hand side (for some reason, I forgot to take a picture of the bathroom!)

As you can see here, we put our luggage on the luggage stand.  and we placed our travel pack on top of the miniature sofa in the corner.  As I joked with my SO, this chair is made perfectly for my petite size!  This so-called sofa was way to small for him. LOL.

Here's the spacious entry way with a few hangers.  Oh, they also provided an air purifier & humidifier, which was great to have because Japan weather was so dry; my eyes were killing me.  We're lucky to live in Vancouver where it's pretty humid throughout the year.

Last but not least, here's a panoramic shot of the room.  As you can see... it's very compact.  Having said that, the bed and pillows were comfortable.  AND we're grateful to have gotten 3 pillows.  I had requested an extra pillow during check in, and it was already there by the time we got into the room!  Speedy gonzales!

Other amenities:  there's a microwave on our floor (which is great), along with ice machine and vending machine.  It's so convenient to have a microwave available because we actually brought some snacks from the konbini and siomay from Horai (more about that later!!!! we ate Horai multiple times) that taste better after they're warmed up.   In addition, this hotel also has coin laundry (looks like it's pretty typical for a business hotel).  We didn't use it, though, because we washed all of our clothes for free at the Grand Japaning Hotel (Shijo Omiya) in Kyoto.  Mwahahahahaha.

Anyway.  I guess the most important question is, would we stay here again?   Yeah, probably.  Overall, we were very satisfied.  This room was sufficient for what we need it for: to sleep and rest.   The area is nice, there are a few restaurants around.  It's fairly close to the train station.  The amenities at the hotel is great.  And for the price we paid, this was a pretty good deal!

Bonus:  There's a cafe that sells Cremia just a couple of blocks away.  Cremia for life!
