Minnesota trip

The only thing I can say about this trip is....please have the next division meeting in the west coast. Thank you very much.

The flight out on Wednesday was rough as hell. We were jumping up and down. One of my colleagues panicked and was asking the stewardess multiple times "are we OK??!! What's with this turbulence??", which really makes everybody else restless as well.

When we arrived at the airport, we went to go get the rental car, and was immediately greeted by the cold and wind chill. Hello, Minnesota. At least we got an SUV, a GMC Touring, which was very nice and spacious. And had 4-wheel drive as well, which made me feel a bit safer driving in this weather.

I had been expecting the cold, so I came prepared: had my wool cardigan on, had my leather gloves (which actually didn't make my fingers warm. Wtf. Oh well..I don't have any other gloves and I ain't spending my own money to buy new winter gloves for this trip), had 3 layers of pants (leggings), had my earmuffs, had my winter jacket on (thank YOU eddie bauer, your down jacket saved my life), had my winter boots on, had a scarf on.

What did all the above items achieve? A little bit of warmth. $hit.

On the first night, after we had an informal dinner and opening meeting, a group of us decided to go out, ventured out of the hotel and braved the cold to go to...a grocery store. To buy what? Some protein shake for one of my colleagues, and some chips for me (what else? I HAVE to have some snacks with me, just in case I feel like munching on something during my night-time routing of watching Family Guy or American Dad or South Park before I go to bed. And I did..). It was SO cold, it hurt my chest when I breathed in the air. After all, it was only -27 Celsius, plus the wind chill. The only thing I didn't mind from the cold weather? The fact that the snow stayed being a snow, and didn't turn into slush. That was the most beautiful snow I've ever seen. You can clearly see the snow crystals!!! I love!!

Anyway, I will post something else on the next post. It will be about our experience at the hotel we stayed at. The Northland Inn. The one place I have vowed to never return as long as I can breathe.

And lastly, Happy Birthday Arg!!! Heart you, dearie!!
