Taiwan & Japan 2019/2020

Here we go again!

I'm going to start sharing our Taiwan & Japan experience which happened in Dec 2019 through to Jan 2020.  We are lucky to have been able to travel a few months ago, just before COVID-19 started to make its way around the world.   I want to make sure that I provide clarification ahead of time about the timeline because we are currently staying put, and you guys should do the same until all the travel bans have been lifted :)

Anyway, let's talk more about our destinations.

Why Taiwan?  Well, my sister was about to have her 2nd wedding (with the same guy) in Kaohsiung, Taiwan just after Christmas.  So we flew a few days before Christmas and stayed in Taiwan until the New Year.  This is actually a blessing for us, because Taiwan isn't on our top 5 countries that we want to visit for its food, since Vancouver actually have a lot of delicious Taiwanese food!  So this definitely gave us a chance to experience Taiwan's culture first-hand and also try their traditional food (hello, night markets!).  During this trip, we visited Kaohsiung and Taipei.

Why Japan, again?  Easy; because we were so impressed with Japan when we went the first time around in 2018 (please read my previous blog posts about Japan) and felt like we didn't spend enough time in Tokyo.  During our previous travel, we only spent 3 days in Tokyo because we thought it was going to be just another metropolitan city.  Boy, were we so wrong about that.  Tokyo is so diverse and has so many restaurants that aren't available in other Japanese cities.  And so we decided that we would spend nine (yes, nine!) days in Tokyo this time around.

I hope you will enjoy the next few posts about Taiwan and Japan!
