APA Hotel Nishi Azabu - Tokyo
For our trip to Japan, we tried to look for inexpensive accommodation with private bathroom, which is not as easy as we thought. There are a lot of Hostels, Inns, and also those capsule hotels. All with very reasonable price, but also with shared bathroom. Unfortunately I have a small bladder... so having our own bathroom would be a necessity.
After much search, we decided to try out APA Hotel in Nishi Azabu, since the APA Hotel chain seem to be a well trusted chain in Japan. Nishi Azabu itself seem to be more of a residential area (very quiet at night, not a lot of restaurants or the sound of traffic) but also within a 15 minute walking distance from Roppongi! This was perfect for us, because we enjoy living in a more quieter area, but also want to be close to the food. The hotel was also pretty close to the train station, and we could get to the places that we want to go to within 15-20 minutes.

The room was quiet compact, which we expected. We only brought 3 pieces of luggage in our trip: 1 40L travel pack, 1 carry on suitcase, and 1 small backpack for our essentials for the plane (toiletries, medication, jacket, etc).
We were lucky that we got a corner room, which apparently is larger than the other rooms. We also got plenty of light in the room, AND we actually got a view of the city. I've read other reviews about this hotel, and some of the room has frosted windows that face the back alley. We booked the semi-double room (the cheapest deal we got). In this compact room, we had to put the carry on suitcase on a stand, and the backpack on the table, see pic below. It actually fit quiet nicely!
There are plenty of plugs in the room for your chargers. The headboard is equipped with additional wall plugs and USB plugs; plus it has the light switches so you don't have to get up when you're ready to turn off the light!
There's a refrigerator in the room, and they also give you coffee & tea. Oh, there's plenty of hangers and hooks right by the entrance; very convenient in this small room.
There are a couple of convenient stores within 5 minute walking. There is also a bakery downstairs in the lobby (it looks like a French bakery, and looks pricey, so we didn't try it).
In the end, we were quiet happy with our stay at this hotel! Although next time, we might try to stay closer to the food area, to save ourselves some travel time :)
