Concert review: Goo Goo Dolls
When I saw ticketmaster’s ad that Goo Goo Dolls was coming, Eric and I were so excited! We quickly grabbed our credit cards and purchased the tickets right away. It was held on Wednesday, March 2 2011 at the Commodore Ballroom. That was my very first time attending a concert there.
We arrived approximately around 7:20 pm and managed to stand in the middle of the fifth row from the stage. Steven Page, ex-lead singer of Barenaked Ladies, was the guest for the night. At 8:15 pm, Steven started his singing. Frankly, we did not know who he is until we ‘Googled’ him. Overall, his performance was entertaining. Page’s band mixed his original songs with James Bond’s classic theme song. He probably sang for one good hour.
By 9:45 pm, Goo Goo Dolls members were finally on the stage!
Their first song was ‘Sweetest Lie’ from their latest album, something for the rest of us (2010). They never failed to perform their classing songs such as Big machine, Black balloon (my all-time favourite), Slide, Here is gone, Better days, Name, and not forgetting, Iris! Rzeznik’s voice sounds exactly the same like in his CDs. I really enjoyed his singing for sure!! The duration of the concert was about two hours long. Standing for four hours to watch Rzeznick sing was definitely worth it.
