New York - Day 6
Chelsea Market! and the Highline :)
We spent most of our afternoon at the Chelsea Market and the High Line. It was raining a bit on our way there, and rained quite hard when we were inside the market (lucky us). It was still drizzling a bit when we went to the High Line, which was a blessing in disguise because the place wasn't packed with tourist for a change. And the High Line has some areas that are covered, anyway, so we took cover whenever it rained harder and wait for a bit.

This is SV, posing :)
Once we were done with the High Line, we went to Lombardi's Pizzeria! Man, the line up was so long, so we decided to do take-out instead. Even then, we had to wait close to 45 minutes. Once we got the pizza, we went to the park next door. I would highly recommend grabbing take-out pizza and eating at the park/playground, because there are benches and tables there. Just don't forget to bring wet naps and napkins. And be careful with birds; there are a lot of birds, don't leave your food unattended. Oh, and if you order take-out from Lombardi's, they give you paper plates and utensils, which is awesome!!
I thought the pizza was delicious, but was it worth waiting in line for hours? Maybe not. I would recommend coming during off hours (like 4 o'clock), or coming first thing in the morning when they just opened.
Where did we go after? Dessert!!! La...la....la....
We walked to Chinatown and went to The Chinatown Ice Cream Factory. I got the buko pandan ice cream, of course. It's so good!!
Once our tummy was full and happy, we continued walking around SoHo. We went by Dominique Ansel's shop. We looked at it from outside (they were busy inside the shop) and we looked at the line up in front of the shop. It didn't look that bad (it really didn't. Like...15 people). So we thought "oh, that's not too bad, let's line up". And what we quickly determined was that there was another line around the block (a continuation of the line up in front of the shop) because they were considerate enough to not be blocking the walking path. LOL. there were maybe another 20 people lining up around the block. Thank, but no thankssss. So we cried and said our goodbye's to Dominique Ansel's baked goods, and continued our journey.
We started walking home, and of course, after all those walking, we were hungry again!
So, we went to Ippudo. We arrived early, and we still had to wait for about an hour. Holy man. Thankfully, we got a place to sit inside, so at least it wasn't hot. And at least we didn't have to be standing while waiting.
Was it worth the wait? Hell yeaaahhhhh. The ramen was as delicious as I remembered it to be :)
Not disappointed at all.
One thing that was disappointing was our expensive tea....We got a tea pot, and 2 cups. After we finished the tea, we asked for a hot-water refill. Turns out, they do not do refills...even for just hot water. *cryyyy*. We cried, figuratively. It was a very expensive tea because they don't do hot-water refills. Damn. But the delicious ramen made it worth the wait and the price. He..he..he..
