PNE 1st BBQ Festival
I know, I've been neglecting this blog due to unforeseen circumstances (ie. too many over-times at work, which I very rarely done before). But here are the pictures I promised from the BBQ Festival at the PNE!
And just in case you're wondering...Yes, the bf and I bought all those meat and ate them all, and yes we finished it with that scrumptious funnel cake. We basically bought one type of meat from each of the BBQ stand. We would love to buy more, but we ran out of money...tee hee hee. (PS. Not pictured: a gigantic home-made root beer and jumbo lemonade). We are pigs, yes, thank you very much. *bows*
Beef brisket, already pre-cut when we got it. Super yummy! And we have to say, this was the best one we tasted that day.
BBQ ribs. Not as juicy as we expected it to be, it was a bit candied. But what can we say, with that kind of crowd, they've got to pre-cook these ribs and leave it on the fire to keep them warm....so we already expected it to be dry. Oh well.
1st brisket sandwich. The brisket was OK, the sauce I liked! But yeah, I think we should've opted for the brisket only, without the buns.
2nd brisket sandwich from a different stand. We asked if we could just get the sandwich without the buns, but unfortunately they said no...something about inventory and how they have to keep track of how much food they sell. Fine. Such a waste though, we didn't eat the buns.
Yet another brisket. This one was a bit disappointing, the brisket were a bit tough, and the sauce was too tomato-y. But as we were comparing it against the cut-up brisket we tried at the very beginning, we wonder if those ones tasted good mostly because they were pre-cut and therefore much easier to chew and enjoy?
OK...so after all those meat, you can imagine us, fatso (read: the bf and I) had a little bit of difficulty moving around because of fat stomach...hardy har har. We walked around the PNE and the fair to help digest the food a little, then we went to watch the dog show! Awww...I love those dogs! They're super cute and not to mention smart! And then after the show, we were hungry again. HAH!
What did we get? Dessert, of course. A meal is not complete without a dessert. And we lined up just to get this deep-fried batter. So easy to make yet so delicious, and too tricky to make it myself at home! I refuse to waste a ton of oil just to deep fry this funnel cake. Whatever, it was delicious :D
*Phew...what a day, eh? Thank goodness we parked far away from the PNE (mainly because we're cheap and didn't want to pay for parking, so we drove around the residential area and looked for free parking), but we had also anticipated that we were going to over-eat. Hahahaha. So at least we forced ourselves for a nice long walk before heading home.
Okey guys, that's one of the posts I promised you. I still have tons of pictures from my other adventures :)
Good night!
