The great Celine Dion
I watched Celine Dion last night. OH MY F*CKIN' GOD. She was phenomenal, literally!!! I had never heard a sound system that great, but after I gave it some thoughts, I think it was also the quality of her voice which resulted in a super-clear sounds and musics. Gila!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh, dan itu yang namanya GM Place, yehhh, rame nyaaaa uda kaya Zara di Kelapa Gading Mall kalo lagi Desember Sale!!! IKHHHHHH, males!!! Bisa injek2an di dalem sono.
Ini lebih rame dari Spice Girls. Liat panggungnya di tengah! Bukan di pinggir!!
(ini biar bisa fit in more people di dalem sana)
Anyway, the show was opened cheerfully by Gordie Brown, a famous impersonator whose regular fans are based on his Vegas (more specifically the Venetian Hotel & Casino). He's a fellow Canadian whom Celine and Rene decided to bring along throughout the Taking Chances world tour. He entertained us with his chippers of impersonating other musicians; I personally think he himself isn't a bad singer either. He impersonated Elvis, Michael Jackson, Neil Young, Ozzy Osborne, Clint Eastwood, and Louis Armstrong, just to name a few. My stomach started hurting after 30 minutes due to excessive laughing (bagus lah, itung2 olahraga perut mwahahaha).
Then Celine came on stage with I Drove All Night. My God...the whole GM Place was mesmerized by her crisp and beautiful voice. During her entire 2 hour show, she managed to hit all her high notes PERFECTLY. I felt like as if I was listening to a CD. On the other hand, the stage and the gigantic screens were the best sets I have seen so far (considering the fact that I have watched 10+ concerts in Vancouver). The crispness and clarity of the live feeds on the screen almost match those of Blu-Rays' quality. Seriously!!!!! And it was done very professionally, the cameras managed to capture every single momentous moments. Udah kaya lagi nonton siaran di TV!!! Bedanya, ini kaga pake kamera men, instead dia pake kamera yang di kontrol jarak jauh. And it was still perfect. We think there may be a total of up to 15 cameras around the stage last night.
Celine's performance was definitely superb. I'm guessing her daily performances in Vegas really gave her the exercise she needed to stay fit and energetic during the show. She was dancing, kicking legs, running, dropping down on the floor, etc...Yet her voice was undeniably consistenly over the top!
I got super teary eyed last night when I heard her sing. I was also watching every movements that her lips made, just to make sure that she didn't lip sync. D'ohhh!!! Of course Celine Dion doesn't lip sync!!! But I was having a really really really hard time that she was able to produce a voice so crisp and beautiful when singing live at GM Place.
She closed the show by singing a very beautiful rendetion of My Heart Will Go On (Titanic soundtrack, just in case you had amnesia). The stage was set very beautifully, with four chandeliers full of real candles being lowered from the ceiling.
Anyway, we realized that the price we paid for the ticket (about $75 or $80 including tax..I can't remember), was not expensive enough. We should've spent more and aimed for better seats. Our seats were up in the balcony, practically the nose-bleed location (although still not as bad as my seats for Spice Girls concert). It is for concert such as this one that we shouldn't think twice about spending a bit more money. The last time she came to Vancouver was 10 years ago, and after last night's show, it doesn't look like she's going to visit us again any time soon.
As usual, I spent a heck lot of money to buy a t-shirt. Hahahaha. Seriously, mannnn, I don't know how or, more importantly, WHY, am I willing to spend that much money for a t-shirt. But it's becoming more of a ritual for me to buy a t-shirt (or a hoodie when I went to watch the Pussycat Dolls) whenever I attend a concert. These concert t-shirts are one of the most treasured accessories I may have during my twenty-**** years of life!!!!!
